Prince Harry and Meghan Announce Major Team Changes Following BBC Interview Fallout

The Sussexes, Prince Harry and Meghan, have recently made significant changes to their team, according to reports from Reporters. The shake-up includes the departure of six key members, among them, Kyle Boulia, the couple's deputy press secretary based in Los Angeles, and Charlie Gipson, their director of European communications.

Lianne Cashin, who was the head of operations at the couple's non-profit organisation, Archewell, has also left her position, only a month after being praised as “exceptional” by a spokesperson for the couple. Further departures include Deesha Tank, the director of communications at Archewell, a personal assistant, and Meghan's manager for social media matters.

These changes have occurred in the wake of Prince Harry's controversial Reporters interview, which saw him criticise his father and voice frustrations over what he perceives as an “establishment stitch-up” in relation to losing an appeal against the Government over security issues. Buckingham Palace is believed to have reacted negatively to the interview.

Insiders suggest that these staff alterations were anticipated, especially after a damning article in Vanity Fair surfaced in January, which depicted the working environment around the Duchess as challenging, with claims of staff needing “long-term therapy” or taking extended breaks. The profile also portrayed Prince Harry as isolated and friendless in the US.

The team alterations come before the Sussexes released a rather unconventional video showing them dancing in a hospital delivery room, awaiting the birth of their daughter, Princess Lilibet. Shared on the Duchess's Instagram, the video received a mixed response from the public.

In response to these developments, the Sussexes have hired Emily Robinson as the new director of communications, who brings her experience from Netflix, including work on ‘The Crown'. Sarah Fosmo, formerly of the Bill Gates team, has been appointed by the Duchess as her first chief of staff, and Prince Harry has promoted Miranda Barbot to his chief of staff. Meredith Maines, serving as the chief communications officer since February, has been instrumental in these alterations. Maines explained that the move to a larger, more traditionally structured communications team was strategic, aiming for better media and stakeholder engagement across numerous time zones.

Alongside these internal changes, the Duchess has also been focusing on expanding her As Ever brand. Despite previously indicating a hiatus in new product announcements until 2026, she has recently teased the return of fan-favourite products and new items via Instagram, suggesting a pivot in her approach to the brand's development.
