Katie Price Skinny Food Diet Advertisement Banned by UK Watchdog.
Katie Price, the television personality, faced scrutiny as an advert she posted on Instagram promoting a low-calorie diet for The Skinny Food Co has been banned by the advertising watchdog.
The Instagram Reel, shared last August, featured Price discussing her meals for the day, amounting to only 755 calories, well below the recommended daily intake advised by the NHS.
Price showcased her meals throughout the day, including porridge for breakfast, a wrap with zero-calorie garlic mayonnaise for lunch, and a low-calorie chicken tikka curry for dinner, followed by low-calorie chocolate malt balls as a post-dinner snack.
While Price claimed in the caption that the diet helped her maintain a calorie deficit, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) deemed the ad “irresponsible” and insisted it must not be shown again.
The ASA received complaints alleging that the advert promoted a diet below 800 calories without appropriate medical advice and failed to adequately disclose that it was an advertisement. Despite the inclusion of the hashtag #ad, the ASA found it was not clearly visible without expanding the text.

Furthermore, the ASA noted that the advert made specific health claims that were not authorised on the Great Britain nutrition and health claims register, breaching advertising rules.
In response, Price agreed to remove the advert and sought guidance on ensuring compliance with future posts. However, The Skinny Food Co and Price have yet to comment on the matter.
This ruling underscores the importance of responsible advertising practices and the necessity of ensuring transparency in promotional content, particularly concerning health and dietary claims.
