Glass Contamination Sparks Recall of Select Waitrose Bottled Water
Waitrose Urges Return of Bottled Water Following Glass Contamination Alert
Waitrose has issued a recall for one of its bottled waters amid warnings from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) that it might contain fragments of glass, posing a potential injury risk. The FSA has highlighted that the 750ml bottles of No1 Royal Deeside Mineral Water, along with its sparkling variant, could harbour glass pieces upon opening, rendering the product unsafe for consumption.

In response to the alert, Waitrose has extended an apology to its customers and taken steps to recall certain bottles from the affected batch as a precautionary measure. The supermarket chain is asking consumers in possession of the product to stop its use immediately and return it to any Waitrose store or contact the retailer directly for a full refund of the purchase price.
The FSA’s recall notice has emphasised the danger of consuming the product, advising buyers to refrain from drinking the affected water. Waitrose is also set to display warning notices in its outlets to alert and inform customers of the recall.
Produced in Scotland using natural springs located within the Cairngorms National Park, Deeside water is known for its specific batches crafted exclusively for Waitrose, which are now subject to this recall. Each bottle is priced approximately at £1.60 in Waitrose outlets.
The specifics regarding the number of bottles sold and the exact proportion impacted by this issue remain uncertain at this time.
Customers are advised to check their bottles for the following batch codes to ascertain if their purchase is included in the recall: For the mineral water, the affected batch codes are NOV 2027 28, DEC 2027 01, DEC 2027 02, DEC 2027 10, DEC 2027 11, and DEC 2027 16, all with best before dates ranging from November to December 2027. For the sparkling water variant, the concerned codes are DEC 2027 01, DEC 2027 03, DEC 2027 12, DEC 2027 15, and DEC 2027 25, with a best before date of December 2027.
The FSA has provided a contact for concerned customers to reach Waitrose Customer Care directly at 0800 188 884, option 4, for any further assistance or enquiries related to the recall.
